IRS Judgment - 1976
After six months P2&3, while handling social security, federal and state taxes, have skimmed off the top. P1 unaware. P2&3 negotiate with IRS and pay $5,500.00 each to drop charges. P1 unable to pay and is slapped with a $19,000.00 judgment. IRS convinces P1 to pay part of the debt, by signing over his life insurance policy, eliminating his benefits to his spouse. P1 also agrees to pay sixty dollars per month until paid.
After losing his company and income P1 works as a taxi driver to pay the monthly penalty. After eight (8) years of payments, every month, P1 has paid in $5,760.00 to IRS. He is now 68 years old. He's tired and wants to settle out… WHAT TO DO?
His ability to do this was based on the fact that the law, at that time, prohibited anyone, including the IRS, from collecting a judgment from the social security retirement income of any retired American. CASE CLOSED!
