WHAT TO DRINK. DECISIONS, DECISIONS...

During our lifetimes we all need to make decisions as to what we are going to drink.

The decisions are fairly easy when you listen to the advertisers who want you to spend
your money on their product. In this situation, you need to make educated decisions based on what is contained in the product and the long-range effect it will have on you, which the manufacturers normally don't tell you.

In America we are free to make our own decisions.

Yet, there are factors that influence our decision making process.
My position here is to give you information that pertains to the "drinks" that you consider, so that you can make a more educated decision regarding your health.

In our Anti-Aging environment we need to be aware of the effects of the drinks we
select. The purpose here today is to assist you in making a decision as to
what you are going to drink for the rest of your life, no matter how short or long...

I'm going to suggest strongly what you may want to eliminate and at the end of this
issue I will tell you a formula that is healthy and taste's great!

Linus Pauling, a double Noble-Prize winner in his book
"How to Live Longer and Feel Better"
states:
"Keep your intake of ordinary sugar ( sucrose, raw sugar, brown sugar, honey )
to 50 pounds per year, which is half the present U.S. average. Do not add sugar to tea or coffee. Do not eat high-sugar foods. Avoid sweet desserts. Do not drink soft drinks."

A long time ago I calculated just how much represented 50 pounds of sugar per year.

I found that you would drink 50 pounds of sugar per year by drinking one 20 ounce soda, iced tea or whatever, per day, 7 days per week containing a total of 62 grams of sugar,
per 20 ounce container.

62 grams of sugar per day ( each and every day )
equals 22,630 grams of sugar per year

( actually 50 pounds of sugar = 22,680 grams divided by 365 days is 62.137 grams / day )

So, the first consideration we make is how much sugar we consume per year.
50 pounds is recommended.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Now, what do we drink? There is a great misconception ( in fact, it's down-right
laughable when you think about it ) DIET SODA.

The perception is drink diet soda and lose weight!

( the reality is... diet soda will actually cause you to gain weight )

WHY?

Diet soda has a sweetener that does not directly contribute to calorie intake.

SOUNDS GREAT... HOWEVER,
when you drink a diet soda and the sweet taste stimulates your tongue,
a message is sent to your brain telling it to prepare for acceptance of
new energy, in the form of sugar, from an outside source.

THE BRAIN immediately informs the LIVER, who stops
manufacturing sugar from the protein and starch reserves of the body and
begins to store the metabolic fuels that are circulating in the blood.

Because the sweet taste is not followed by nutrient availability the liver
does not receive what caused it to stop manufacturing sugar and
it sends out a signal to eat.

HERE'S THE KICKER!

The sweeter the taste from the sweetener, without receiving the calories that
stimulate the taste buds, the higher the urge to eat.

OVEREAT!

One of the sweeteners that is used in diet soda and also
5,000 other recipes, approved by the FDA, is aspartame.

Think about putting sugar on your tongue. Really sweet... isn't it?

Aspartame is 180 times as sweet as sugar without any calorie output.

WHY ARE MOST AMERICANS OVERWEIGHT?

We are not interested in telling Americans or any other people in this world
how to eat or run their lives, we are simply devoted to telling everyone
what is the perception and what is the true reality, so they can make
whatever informed decision they want, in their lives.

This is only one example of the perception and the true reality.

There are many other examples such as adequate amounts of water per day,
proper eating for disease free living, prescription drugs, dual exercise,
advanced hygiene, and many more.

TOO MANY TO LIST HERE!

So, the recommendation here is just what Linus Pauling said in his quote above
"Do not drink soft drinks."
AND
To expand on what he said, it is recommended that you do not drink or eat more than
62 grams of sugar per day to maintain 50 pounds per year.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^

Here is one of my morning drinks ( this acts as one of my five meals per day )

PEANUT BUTTER SPLASH
( in a blender )

8 ounces of Pomegranate Blueberry 100% Juice
http://www.pomwonderfulstore.com/product.asp?id=30345
1 ripe banana
( I also use fresh cantaloupe, honey dew melon, watermelon, kiwi, mango and papaya )
use these in conjunction with 5 fresh fruits on our 4-day rotation system
2 Tablespoons "Kretschmer's" toasted wheat germ
AND
 2 tablespoons peanut butter
( this is NOT reduced fat peanut butter )
Reduced fat peanut butter gives you less monounsaturated fat
( the good stuff ) and just a few less calories. Enjoy!
